Retaining Alto Piemonte’s aristocratic aloofness rather than being fruit-driven and hedonistic like many current wines in the Langhe, this impresses with its ageing potential, polish and depth.

This has plenty of that elusive mineral, gritty, irony spice of Alto Piemonte, but its fine balance and overt minerality make it much nicer to appreciate now and in the next few years.

This is terrific. The 2018 is wonderfully dynamic in the glass, revealing myriad shades of complexity over time. It's a deceptively understated wine with a ton to offer.
Hints of blood orange, amaro herbs, coffee and menthol add further shades of nuance. There's so much to admire. Finessed tannins pull it all together in style.

Balsamic notes run through this wild yet alluring Barolo, adding tons of complexity. Aeration brings out the wine's attractive structure-there's certainly plenty of power and Monforte muscle.

The 2019 offers up a compelling mélange of black cherry, plum, licorice, cloves, tobacco and leather. This strapping, potent Monforte Barolo has a ton to offer. The 2019 is an especially fine edition.
